Foundation

Fenerbahçe S.K. was founded in 1907 in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire, by Ziya Songülen, Ayetullah Bey, and Necip Okaner. The club's name originates from the Fenerbahçe neighborhood, which translates to 'lighthouse garden' in Turkish. The women's football branch was initially established on April 4, 1995, under the guidance of board member Mehmet Ali Aydınlar. The team was managed by Saffet Aktarı and coached by Ziya Özgür. During its inaugural season in the 1994-95 Women's League, Fenerbahçe played 12 matches, securing eight victories, two draws, and two losses. This early phase marked the beginning of women's football within the club, reflecting its commitment to sports development in Turkey. However, the women's team faced financial challenges that led to its closure after the 1995-96 season, halting its progress until its re-establishment in 2021.

The following season, 1995-96, saw the team strengthen its roster with several key transfers, including players from Dinarsuspor and Acarlar Spor. They achieved a stunning 20-0 victory against Ankara Dedeoğlu, highlighting their dominance in the league. However, due to economic constraints, the women's branch was shut down, and the team was disbanded. In August 2021, Fenerbahçe announced the re-establishment of its women's football team, emphasizing its commitment to gender equality and community involvement. The first match after re-establishment was marked by a friendly against their archrival Galatasaray, aimed at raising social awareness.
