Early Life

Gabriela Guimarães was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, where she initially engaged in swimming, tennis, and football before discovering her passion for volleyball at the age of 14. She joined the volleyball team at Colégio Pitágoras primarily to remain close to her friends. Despite being initially rejected by the Minas Tênis Clube for being deemed too short, Gabi did not give up. She moved to Mackenzie Esporte Clube, where her aunt had previously won a championship. Coach Delicélio Rodrigues recognized her talent and provided her with the opportunity to play. In her first year, she earned a spot on the Minas Gerais youth state team. This was a significant turning point as she helped her team achieve ninth place in the Brazilian Championship of State Teams in Fortaleza, Ceará, and solidified her place in the sport.

Career

Gabi's professional career began to flourish as she represented the Brazil national youth team at the 2010 South American Championship in Lima, Peru. Gabi continued to play for BMG/Mackenzie, where she contributed to winning the Minas Gerais state championship and participated in the 2010-11 Brazilian Superliga. In 2011, she represented Brazil in the FIVB Girls' Youth World Championship in Ankara, Turkey, where she emerged as the top scorer with 155 points. Following her success, she moved on to the senior national team and won the bronze medal at the 2014 World Championship.
