The Sacramento Kings were founded in 1923 as the Rochester Seagrams, a semi-professional basketball team in Rochester, New York. In 1945, the franchise transitioned to a fully professional team, becoming the Rochester Royals. This name change marked the beginning of a new era, as the Royals joined the National Basketball League (NBL) and quickly made history by winning the championship in their inaugural season.
